The Importance of "Integration"

A few years ago, I was going to healing sessions twice a month or more to "get through" the healing process. Did I need to go this often? Maybe. But what I wasn't doing was actually sitting in the insights and unravelings that came up in each session. I wanted to move through my discomfort and pain as quickly as possible so I could be "healed". Sound familiar? š¬
Until a healer told me: "What comes after a healing session matters just as much as the actual session itself." And then I realized, I needed to take some time to integrate what was coming up for me in these sessions. I had heard integration before, but hadn't actually thought about it. Things that work for me to integrate: journaling, pausing, meditating, laughing, being with friends, dancing, hiking, camping, and living my damn life. While it's nice to be "doing the work", it's also just as important to live our life with the changes we make as we heal our inner wounds.
As I continue my work offering energy work and readings to others, I encourage all of you to take time to integrate between sessions. Yes, regular energy work matters, and so does the time you spend with yourself living your life between sessions. š What thoughts do you have on integration? I'd love to know in the comments.
